MASH Makes biochar trial shows promising results

In Maharashtra's Latur district, agriculture sustains livelihoods. Unfortunately, recurring droughts and misguided fertilisation practices have led to water scarcity and poor crop yields.

MASH Makes Biochar offers a promising solution for the challenges in Latur. Our trials show that when added to soil, biochar improves water retention, addressing the impact of recurrent droughts. Our biochar also optimises fertiliser use. This dynamic duo of biochar and fertiliser positively impacts overall plant growth and seed yield, with a 42%  increase in Agronomic Efficiency of Nitrogen (AEN) compared to using fertiliser alone.

Results also showed that biochar application lead to:
+8% first-season sunflower yield
+42% improved nitrogen efficiency when combined with fertiliser
+195% microbial growth.

These field trials, along with other impressive biochar results, show that biochar is a valuable soil amendment. You can learn more about our biochar here.
